we had SUCH a fun Conference weekend {sidenote: Conference weekend 7 years ago we were walking off the plane from honeymoon- awe, sweet! we landed then made the drive to Rexburg to our cute condo that awaited us ;) }okay back to 2012~ we headed to grammy and gramp's house. rowen had never been there and we were going on over a year since our last visit. i don't think we have been up there in the fall since we moved in 2006! it was so fun!!!!! we left friday around 1 and the kids CRASHED and slept the entire way- that is the way to travel with two littles! we hung out friday and G&G gave rowen some birthday presents:
a backpack {ej got one around her first birthday and still LOVES hers}
and some stackable blocks....
... he loves them! we were laughing so hard at him in his backpack... mainly because his legs are 6 inches long.
Saturday morning started with conference then we headed to Ashton and Mesa Falls. why Ashton, Idaho you ask? BIG JUD's is there! this is the full pound hamburger. it isn't just MASSIVE but super tasty too. the bun is homemade and so soft and spoungey. it really is one of the tastiest hamburgers. so we all shared two of these bad boys with some fries and tater tots....
checkin' Gramp out.....
then after lunch it was on to Mesa Falls. i love it there. it is so pretty and just reminds me of when nate and i were first married. we took a couple trips there while we lived in Rexburg. it is SOOO pretty and is the perfect example of the pretty/picturesque parts Idaho.
(the following picture i threw in there mainly because of the way Rowen is looking at Joel. he spent most the week looking at him like that... just watching him, looking at him , & trying to figure him out :) )
love these big blue eyes!
walking around....
nate told ej of this memory he had from growing up of this bridge where you could feed trout and they went nuts over the food. so we bought bread and went looking for it. emersyn was beyond excited for it..... however, before too long we were back at the highway and had never found the bridge.... we knew emersyn wouldn't let that fly so we pretty much found a bridge and hoped there would be some fish.
i love the scenery....
Tetons in the background.
Luckily there were some fish jumping around that we could see.... whether or not they ate our bread- hmmm, probably not BUT we fed them and that made her happy. Then it was back to the house for more hanging out at Grammy and Gramp's. EJ was in heaven with all the Polly Pockets and Barbies they have! Plus, every Disney VHS imaginable. it was great!
L.O.V.E. her face below~ grammy made some fresh blackberry cobbler.
....and at some point after we put her in bed some wandered to the stairs and fell asleep there.
sunday morning Gramp had trapped a squirrel. ej rode with him to the park to let it go....
and Rowe ate his weight in corn on the cob. best kid food ever!
it was such a fun weekend and i wish we could have spent one more day there hanging out. but, i think the kids (as always) were ready to get back to their beds.... i know i was. we slept with Rowen in our room and found out he is not a good room-mate!

I love Ej's face with THE Big Jud! I'll always remember our first trip there with you guys! And those pictures of Mesa Falls KINDA make me miss Idaho...just a little though. ;)
First of all your kids are adorable and getting so big! I love it! and second, I was just in Ashton/Saint Anthony this weekend for my cousins wedding. Love that place so very much.
