my story!

Hello world. my name is emersyn jayne lloyd and i finally made it out into the world:)! my mom went in for an appointment on tuesday 01/21 and found out she had really high blood pressure. that along with the bad headaches she had been having, Dr Reider was worried about her having a condition called preclampsia. they did a bunch of blood work and sent her home to do a 24 hour test all day wednesday. Dr told her the test results would be in on thursday and if there were signs of preclamsia he would induce on friday. well tuesday night and wednesday she had pretty bad headaches, nausea
, all that fun stuff so she called the Dr and he told her to go to the hospital to have them monitor her BP. she walked into the hospital at about 3:30pm on wednesday - thinking she was there for an hour appointment.... my daddy left school to meet her there & 4 days later she and my daddy walked out of the hospital with me:)! my mom wasn't really ready for me to come. thinking she might be induced on friday she had a WHOLE list of things to do wednesday and thursday to get the final things ready- but i had a different plan! she REALLY, REALLY thought i would come late and she had plenty of time :)
they admitted her into labor and delivery and gave her a mag drip (an anti-seizure because her BP was so high) and some medicine to help her 'progress'. She was put on strick bed rest because the drug made her so loopy! she called my aunt andrea and aunt lindsie- they were flying out for my delivery and told them they had admitted her. they weren't leaving until thursday originally but changed their flight to wednesday night.... and boy were my mom and dad glad they got here in time! they were SUCH a help in bringing me into this world! mom and dad slept (as much as someone can sleep with nurses checking you and taking vitals EVERY hour) at the hospital and thursday morning they started her on pitocin. mom, dad, andrea, lindsie, and andi hung out all day awaiting my arrival. andi was so excited to see my mom and especially my dad- she really likes him. around 2 pm the contractions were getting painful so she had our epidural- she thought it was GREAT!! finally after a long, long day she started pushing and at 10:55pm i came into the world at 7 pounds 11 oz & 21 inches.... my aunt lindsie, aunt andrea, and dad were great cheerleadrs for me and my mom! the doctor and all the nurses were completely surprised that my mom had an baby THAT big inside of her! they thought i'd be around 6 1/2 pounds. the first thing i did- not cry but as my dad went to cut the cord and i grab the handle of the scissors- i just thought he might need some help! the dr had never, ever seen a baby do that- i am pretty talented :). mom did ok through delivery but realized the epidural had worn off by the time i was ready to come out:( she vowed the next morning that i was going to be an only child :)
my mom had to stay on the magnesium to drip for 24 hours so we weren't able to transfer to recovery until 12am saturday morning. mom was SO glad off those meds! we hung out at the hospital until we were discharged sunday afternoon, the dr wanted my mom to stay longer because of the medications she was on and to monitor her blood pressure.
it was AMAZING to be able to spend ALL DAY EVERY DAY with the three of us (plus visitors) with no other place to be. Dad was able to take a few days off from school.
we came home on sunday. andrea, lindsie, and andi had the house ready for us. they did SO MUCH for us and i've missed them SO MUCH since they left. they spoiled our family and loved me so much. mom cried a lot when they left!
i love being home and have been SO much fun for my mom and dad. i CANNOT believe that i have been here for a whole week! i am being VERY patient with my parents
and they are trying so hard :) i think they love me quite a bit!

Yeah!!! I have been waiting to see pictures of your little one. She is so beautiful! Congrats! Sounds like a not so fun hospital stay, but it had great results. I am going to have a girl in July, so it's fun to see just how cute a girl can be.

She is so adorable!! I know that most people say that about newborns but not me! I really think most of them look like little old men.....including one of mine lol. She really is a doll though. I hope everything is going well and you're adjusting to mommyhood with out too many issues. Best of Luck!!
