Chicago...

on our way back to Ohio we spent the day in Chicago. our first stop was at the Navy Pier. It was SO hot and sticky so we decided to go on a boat tour of the Chicago skyline. it was much, much cooler on the water and gave us a sweet view of the skyline.

gettin ready to take off

the skyline-

the Chicago river

this entertained us for quite awhile. it is located in millennium park. it was so shiny:)

we had a GREAT time in chicago. i was surprised how clean the city was. however, it was super hot and muggy. as we were walking around we were so hot and then we saw a 7-11. THANK HEAVEN for 7-11~ i think those were THE BEST slurpees we have EVER had :)! the AC inside the art institute was great as well! chicago has the second largest polish population next to poland so we knew we could find some yummy polish food. we ate dinner at a small, very hole-in-the-wall 'ish polish restaurant. i was ready to turn around and walk out but i held strong for nate :) we were glad we found it. the food was great and nate enjoyed chatting with the old ladies and old men there in polish! the food was great: we went for pierogies and another dish we really like that has a pork and rice mixture wrapped inside cabbage and baked. nate doesn't really 'reminisce' a lot about his mission but i KNOW he truly enjoyed being thrown back in time for an hour or so :)! he even got to talk about his beautiful daughter in Polish to the ladies :)
we stayed the night at our family friend's house and had a GREAT TIME!!! thanks Deckers for another fun night staying up late and chatting and a cozy bed! we miss you all.
we are glad we took the time to spend a day in Chicago.....
