labor day was absolutely amazing this year!!!! we decided to drive to Northern Michigan where nate's grandpa has a house on Platte Lake, right by lake Michigan. this was ej and my first visit and Michigan was on it's BEST behavior! the weather could NOT have been better- high 70's with blue and sunny skies. the first day we headed straight to the water. again emersyn just played and played in the water! she was so content in the sand. that evening Grandpa Wanner took us on a 'sunset cruise'. we went out on the 'toon' (pontoon boat) and watched the sun set. we were able to do some fun things and experience an new part (for ej and i) of the country. Nate hasn't been there for 8 years and enjoyed going back. day two started with FRESH blueberry pancakes that grandpa had picked earlier that week. they are a pretty BIG tradition in their family and emersyn joined in and had a few pieces. after breakfast we headed to Point Betsie on Lake Michigan and hunted for petoskey rocks. we were unsuccessful. after we went back to platte lake and swam. we did lots of swimming, laying out, eating yummy foods, took some very pretty drives, visited sleeping bear sand dunes national lakeshore, WATCHED the BYU vs. Oklahoma game, and enjoyed some time with grandpa wanner. we had a great time and hope to make it back to northern michigan next summer!
she is SUCH a good little traveler!
