so when i last left you... ej and i were super sick with the SWINE FLU and pretty miserable. as we started healing from that we headed to Phoenix for a few days to spend time with nate's brother and his family. it was a GREAT trip and we EnJoYeD every minute we were there. the drive home was a slightly different story with crazy snow involved. one night while we were there Zach and ME got a babysitter for their girls and ej and they took us to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory in Scottsdale. the food was amazing and we walked around this ridiculously 'posh' mall for a little bit afterwords. it was fun to see how Christmas is spent in the sun. we also went to the mesa temple and saw the lights. even though we needed a jacket, it was SO MUCH warmer than salt lake. alix and layla LOVED ej and helped out SOOO much.
ej found these super cute sunglasses. when i first put them on her she wouldn't move her head.... only her eyes. then she thoroughly enjoyed them and continued to wear them the entire day. indoors or outside.
we headed back to utah on the 22nd and let the 'serious' Christmas times start:)
Christmas 2009
Andi got a make-up bag and EVERYONE got a make-over
.....Christmas morning...
we definitely had a white Christmas this year... and it was GREAT! we spent LOTS of time with family and did some Christmas shopping too. i really do like the crazy crowds at the malls and the hustle and bustle of this time of year. on the 23rd we met Kailey and Shawn at Fashion place mall to do some shopping and then on the 24th i went out with my dad and did some shopping. it really makes it feel like Christmas. Santa found ej at my parents house as well as mccoy. Kailey and Shawn spent Christmas eve night at my parents with us. ej woke up at 8:45 am~ we'll enjoy the late start Christmas morning while we can. we spent the day hanging out at my parents which involved 2 things mainly: eating and the Wii. it was a GREAT day!
as i laid ej down to sleep on Christmas Eve i couldn;t help but think of how grateful i am for her. she is our EVERYTHING. she makes everything and everyday better. my eyes got teary as i thought if all the Christmases and Christmas Eve nights to come! i feel SOOO blessed and LUCKY that she is ours! i honestly cannot get enough of her. she is our best friend. i love that i am her momma. i usually try and rock her to sleep at night. she doesn't need me to, she'll go down just fine without it, i mainly do it for me:) i know one day i won't be able to rock her sleep anymore and i just want to soak up as much of it was possible. she LOVES it when i sing or hum while rocking her. "I am a Child of God" is usually the #1 song but during the month of december we sang a lot of "Away in a Manger". having my own child really made me focus on the conditions that our Saviour was brought into the world in. such a humble life. what an example those few lines of a song are. i get so caught up in what we don't have that it gets to be really easy steer away from ALL that we do have! i am so grateful for this time of year and the time of reflection that it brings. i just can't imagine having this brand new baby that you want EVERYTHING to be perfect for and having them in a manger around animals.... and not having a crib with a new mattress and fresh, clean sheets freshly washed in a gentle detergent.....with all their new clean clothes hanging in the closet.... while stacks of quilts made just for them sit next to the crib incase the first, second, third or fourth ones get pooped or thrown up on. and Mary.... having to deliver in those conditions... not have nurses and doctors bringing you everything you think you may need for the next few days after.... then being in the comfort of your own home just a short drive after leaving the hospital. we have it pretty good.
hope you all had a fantastic Christmas. ours was just perfect for this family of three and we feel very lucky.
