Presque Isle, PA

**** warning LOTS of pictures... because our weekend was THAT fun****

this last weekend was absolutely GREAT! we had a mini-getaway planned to Erie/Presque Isle, PA. originally we planned to leave early Saturday morning and meetup with everyone then stay overnight saturday to sunday BUT at about 1pm on friday plans changed and we were leaving that evening for 2 nights away:) the drive was great (only about an hour and a twenty mins) and the hotel was GREAT! Saturday morning i ran in my first 10K~ i was only planning on doing the 5K but i was feeling good and the company was great so i continued on to the end. it felt great to accomplish that. i haven't ran more than 3.5 miles since before ej was born. i have been running recently but haven't gone more than that 3.5 mark. PLUS, we accidentally took a little detour adding on about a mile :( which was a bummer but we did it! i am excited for my next 10K. we are hoping to do a half marathon in October! the race was on Presque Isle which is a State Park. it had groomed trails and beaches. the race was right along the shore of Erie which made for a pretty view- some areas were a little stinky.

after the race we headed back to the hotel for a yUmMy breakfast, a quick shower (a nap for ej), then met up with everyone at Presque Isle for a day at the beach. it was such a fun day!!! we spent 7 hours in the sand and it was so relaxing!! we had such a fabulous time with fabulous friends. emersyn loved watching and playing with ALL the kids. of course, she loved the water too.

after a LONG day at the beach we went to dinner with The Day's at a BBQ restaurant. can i just say it was THE BEST BBQ FOOD i have ever HAD~ hands down. if you are ever close to Erie STOP at Smokey Bones BBQ! they had these Memphis dry rub wings with a sweet glaze that are out of this world!

back to the hotel that night~ we were exhausted. sunday morning we got up and swam. Emersyn LOVED the pool and learned to jump to Nate. she was definitely a fan of jumping to Dad... isn't it amazing the trust they have. then we headed home. emersyn slept the entire way.
