sounds

you know those sounds that just make your heart skip a beat (in a bad way), and then sink...... today that was the sound of my car locking for me.

"911 what's your emergency?"
"my daughter locked herself in my car"
"okay, what's your address" (i give it to her)
"how old is the child"
"16 months"
"i'm sorry, did you say 16 months?"
"yes"
"i think that is the youngest age i have heard of locking themselves in a car. i can't believe she knew where the lock button was".
"oh no. she had my keys. the minute i went to close her door and realized that, i heard the chirp of the 'locking' of the door."
"wow, she is a smart cookie"
"what's your name"
"paige lloyd"
"what kind of car is it"
"nissan murano"
" okay i will send an officer"

~JUST THEN I HEAR THAT SAME CLICKING NOISE~

"SHE UNLOCKED IT! OH MY WORD!!!! SHE JUST UNLOCKED IT!!!!"
"WOW! you are very lucky! your daughter is hilarious. she is too smart for her own good~ watch out mom!"

we were so lucky today! i could NOT believe that she unlocked it. the worst part- well the worst part would be her locking herself in, but the 'second' worst part was when she hit the panic alarm!!! when she first locked herself in she laughing at me through the window. almost like she had it all planned out. so we were making faces through the window, playing and laughing and then she hit the alarm. immediately she got this worried look on her face and then started crying. she held the keys out to me.... wanting me to take them and reaching for me to hold her. that broke my heart! that is when i started to panic. however about 40 seconds into it- she hit the alarm again and it stopped! WHAT ARE THE ODDS!?! thank the heavens. i was afraid she was going to throw the keys and then there would NO chance of stopping it or unlocking the car from the inside. what is funny is the minute she hit the lock i thought ' i wonder if i could get her to hit the unlock button'. i thought that was a pretty much a shot in the dark. no way it would happen. but then- IT DID! what are the odds of her stopping the alarm AND unlocking the car?!!? thank u thank u thank u!
i am officially a mother of a toddler. sworn in by ej today, the First day of June, of the year Two Thousand and Ten.
