friday part 1

~Marigot Market~

we had SO MANY thing on our " TO DO" list come friday, we didn't think there was ANY way would could possibly go home on saturday. i think we doubled our pictures we took just in this single day. so decided to do it in 2 posts.
we started out by going to MArigot, again, to see if we could catch the shops {not too many of them were open when we went}. we ate breakfast at a restaurant voted 'best breakfast on the island' called "ZEE BEST". and it really was. we got to Marigot bright and early- a little too early and the shops weren't set up. we hung around until 10am when everybody said they opened, and still nothing. 10:30- still nothing. at that point we decided to head out. there were many other things we wanted to see so we left. we did buy some yummy spices from one shop.

...a place for me to work :) ironically enough there was a law firm right next to it :)
nate racing the stroller in and out of poles

back at Serafina's for pastries. ej LOVED nutella

from there we headed to Grand Case Bay- interesting but we were glad, once again that we stayed where we stayed. from there we hurried over to Maho Beach. this is a famous place with videos ALL OVER YouTube of airplanes landing right over the beach. it was incredible how close they were. the sign says it ALL.

our family at Maho beach
diesel was with us....

after that, back to our place to put ej down for a nap. nate stayed back with her while kate and i took a kayak out across the bay we were staying at, parked it on the beach, and snorkeled to this half-sunken ship. well i guess it was completely sunken because it was on the bottom of the ocean.... it just wasn't super deep so the top 1/3 of it was above the water. anyways, again fun fish. i was able to show kate one of my favorite fish- needle nose fish. they stay right at the top of the water and are super skinny. they have this long needle nose. the thing i love about them is they are hard to see. it is easy to go along snorkeling and looking for fish and not see them. however, once you spot them- you notice they are all over the place. they are so fun.
after that we headed to Philipsburg and third time there was a charm! we LOVED it. it was SO great when all the shops were open...... that is where i'll start my next post......

i had to include this picture of Hercules, our car. did i mention that the hubcaps were zip-tied on?! not sure if it was that way so they didn't get taken, or if the zip-ties were holding them on.
