friday afternoon was spent in Philipsburg... this was our third visit and we FINALLY got it right! we came while there was a cruise ship in port, on a friday evening.... so ALL the shops were open. it was A LOT of fun. it was fun to see the city busy with shoppers and kind of a nice way to end our trip to St Maarten. i cannot believe how fast a week went. Almost every person we talked to who was on vacation there was staying for two weeks- at the end of 8 days we knew why everyone was staying longer :) i didn't regret taking ej AT ALL. it was such a blast and we are so thankful that kate was able to spend the week with us as well- it was so great. kate sacrificed a lot to be there and the timing was perfect! who knows how much longer she'll be single and able to be footloose and fancy free:) !! ej is such a good traveler- we are pretty lucky. we decided that we absolutely HAD to eat dinner on the beach for our last night. we ate at the Pirate Bar right next to our hotel.... right on Simpson Bay and it was fabulous! they definitely know how to cook ribs in St Maarten.
most of these pictures are just walking around Front Street and the Boardwalk which are located right on the ocean, right next to the cruise ship port.

we loved checking out the shops- ej found a 'larger than life' diesel and was in heaven. i didn't know how we were going to get out of there without it!

nate having fun with steel drum
boardwalk
loved all the BRIGHT buildings!
crazy hill nate was itching to drive up and down the entire time we were on the island. the last night we finally decided to do it. this pic does NOT do it justice. it was pretty crazy.
dinner at the Pirate bar.
...and our last sunset :(
after dinner we headed back to resort and swam for an hour or so.
