ear tubes round 2 (plus adenoids)

The beginning of may we found out that Rowen's tubes had fallen out. When most tubes fall out they fall completely out. Not my guy's. His became unattached partially in one ear then proceeded to cause a large hole in his ear. Usually, they fall out and the hole closes but rowen's tube was holding on to an edge of the hole pulling it open. The other tube had fallen out of place and embedded elsewhere in his ear. Initially we went to his Primary Care doctor and they referred us to his ENT. We then made another appointment with the ENT who he had been seeing in the past. It was the worst appointment. His ENT has gone 90% holistic and after and hour and forty minutes of her "PREACHING" {not telling me or talking to me... it was preaching}to me about how I need to turn my family 100% VEGAN. Not vegetarian or dairy free but totally and completely VEGAN. She proceeded to tell me that I poisoning my son with foods. She started telling me about these holistic labs in Kansas she wanted to send some blood draws to.... it was crazy! I finally asked her about placing the tubes back in his ears and she proceeded to tell me that he most likely didn't need them in the first place. I honestly started crying at that point. Anyone who knows what we went through with this poor boy and his ear infections last year would KNOW that he NEEDS them to stay healthy. I walked out of that office never to return! {i'm still surprised i actually paid the $140 VISIT}
So I found a new ENT had a consult and set a date for surgery. (p.s. previous ENT said tubes were 100% gone... she didn't even notice that they were both still embedded in his ear!). the new ENT even added extra surgery time on a day he usually doesn't do surgery to get Rowen in sooner. WOW! I was SUPER IMPRESSED! The ENT was GREAT!

The only hiccup in scheduling on a day the Doctor doesn't usually do surgery is we couldn't do surgery first thing in the morning. Our check in time was 10:30 with surgery scheduled at 11. The hard part was no food after midnight! We tried to keep him busy to where he *hopefully* didn't realize how hungry he was. The good part was being sick, he doesn't have a huge appetite. Rowen was a CHAMP! Our cute neighbor offered to watch ej {i didn't even have to ask :) she just offered!!!} We got checked in and Nate met us at the hospital. The nurses all LOVED Rowe and he totally won them over! He got anything he wanted!!! The surgery before ours ran into complications so the OR wasn't ready at 11 and the surgery was delayed an hour. They had given Rowen some meds to help relax him and he did great! They came and grabbed us and then we waited.
The Nurse explained to us that he had to go to recovery after surgery until they got his pain under control. She said we'd hear him crying but to know that nurses were taking care of him. This time was SOOOO different. Last time I think we were in and out in a matter of an hour and half and they started waking him up from GA and then he woke up in my arms. His surgery this time was longer because they were taking his adenoids out as well. They also ran into a little bit of a problem placing the tubes due to the holes.
Once he got out of recovery they had to monitor him and get him to eat some food before we could leave. He was VERY UPSET when they brought him to us. It took him awhile to calm down and to quit trying to pull his IV out. He finally fell asleep on me. I was so glad when he calm down enough (or got exhausted enough) to fall asleep.
We left the hospital and headed home about 3pm.
