a company called Bella Baby came and did pictures in the hospital the morning after Rowen was born. i am SO GLAD we have these. when i first saw the pictures, it was bizarre to me to have pictures without Emersyn in them. it really threw me off. i think they capture just what a sweet, content, and mellow little guy we were blessed with. it really was nice to have time in the hospital with him before coming home. i really think it strengthens the bond to have that alone, one-on-one time with them. i had such a great experience at the hospital this time around. i really hold the memories in a special place. every time i drive past the hospital i catch myself reminiscing about our time there. it really was a fantastic experience.

i am still surprised at how much hair he came out with. i just really didn't think it was much of an option for our kids so i didn't ever even think about it! he surprised us at how little he was and the amount of hair.
this little boy LOVES skin-to-skin contact! whenever he feels any skin he tries to get as much of his body against it as possible. it must be such an amazing feeling after being suspended in liquid and folded in half for so long. i wonder what goes through their minds the first few times of feeling that skin to skin? it makes me almost numb with contentment feeling them so close to me. Rowen loves to have his head rubbed!!! i rubbed it a few times within his first day of life and his eyes would just roll back and it just completely calms and comforts him. still, to this day he loves it.
