this year i caught a major canning bug.....like never before! it started out with apricots. it seemed like everybody had extra apricots they were giving away. mom and i bought a few BUT i think we ended up with close to 100 quarts. yes, not a typo- 100! next up was raspberry freezer jam then peach freezer jam. Then we did peaches, green beans, a small amount of tomatoes, more green beans, chicken, vanilla spice plums, vanilla bean applesauce, pepper-plum jelly and an apple cider applesauce.
ej tasting the raspberry jam with a bowl of ice cream and some berries on top! can u tell what she'd been eating? :)
these are the yellow plums we did. they were really sweet but once we canned them or cooked them they went super tart?!
SO now i just need my cold storage shelves and i can load ALL these jars up! As i am canning i feel like such a glutton for punishment. BUT, it is so super rewarding when you start hearing the lids seal and seeing the food you have preserved!
